The final touches to an imaginative water feature were under completion when we visited Clear Cafe and it looked mighty fine. Steps wound up and around the huge pond to a brand new eating area. We sat overlooking the watery courtyard and appreciating all the recycled glass and extensive use of bamboo. This place proves that recycled materials can be very chic and stylish.
Clear Cafe is an alcohol free venue, but don't let that worry you - the juices and smoothies (using locally sourced raw organic cashew nut "mylk") were a knock out.
I highly recommend the Mango Twilight Smoothie (pictured above right - Green Hornet Smoothie pictured above left was also very good, but I only sampled a sip). The glasses are made from reincarnated bottles - how cool. My kids loved their Bali Berry Smoothies and the coloring pencils and paper provided by the staff, kept them busy and quiet all evening.
The food menu was ultra creative, especially the "Raw Platinum" selection. My favorite non-raw dish was Sunshine Tuna (pictured below) - seared black pepper tuna steak, wasabi mashed potatoes, sweet tamarind sauce and sesame seeds.
Be sure to take home some treats from the little shop at the front - the muffins, dried fruit and cookies are perfect for afternoon tea or for a snack while hiking through the rice paddies.
