Cafe Boombana, Mt Nebo

Sit with the kookaburras and honey eaters while you enjoy your latte or organic milkshake. With views over a secluded mountain valley on the edge of D'Aguilar National Park, a bush walk and lunch at Cafe Boombana is a favorite day trip for our family. The cafe's home baked cakes and burgers are super tasty and Boombana Gallery below the cafe, showcases local artworks (open weekends).

Only 40 minutes drive west of Brisbane, Mt Nebo Road (Tourist Route 8) winds up through bushland and sub tropical rainforests to Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious townships.

There are many walks in D'Aguilar National Park. Boombana Walk passes a fantastic Giant Strangler Fig and ends up at Cafe Boombana, but the Mt Glorious Rainforest Circuit at Maiala is really something special. The 2 km track passes many giant Eucalypts, more Strangler Figs and Picabeen Palms. It criss-crosses mossy streams and is rich in bird life - if you're lucky, you might spot a Bowerbird or a Wampoo Fruit Dove.

Cafe Boombana: 1863 Mt Nebo Rd, Mt Nebo.
